Owned by 10 Tanker Air Carrier, the fleet of DC 10’s have been modified and fitted with external tanks that hold 12,000 gallons of fire retardant. Research has shown that one of the most essential elements of controlling a wildfire is to deliver the biggest payload of retardant on a fire quickly. The DC 10 Super Tanker fits both bills, and since 2006, it has proven itself to be a critical tool for fighting wildfires in the states of Washington and California. With an expanding fleet they will soon be servicing states across the nation and countries around the world.

After its first full day of deliberations Friday at the Riverside County, California Hall of Justice the jury hearing the murder-arson case against Raymond Lee Oyler, charged with setting a 2006 wildfire that took the lives of five firefighters, has gone home for the weekend. Third Week of Testimony in Raymond Lee Oyler Arson-Murder Trial.

38-year old Raymond Lee Oyler of Beaumont, California faces five counts of first-degree murder as well as multiple counts of arson. He is also charged with possession of fire producing devices thought to have been used in setting 23 fires between May and October 2006, including the Esperanza Fire that left five U.S. Forest Service firefighters dead. His trial is underway at the Riverside County California Hall of Justice. If convicted, the former auto mechanic could face the death penalty.
